The festival season begins in Glen Innes with Minerama in March, attracting scores of commercial and hobby traders displaying gems, jewellery and fossils in a market atmosphere – with field trips to fossicking sites also a highlight.
Minerama is NSW’s biggest Fossicking and Gem show and is at the heart of the fossicking industry in the region.
Following the Australian Celtic Festival in May, Glen Innes hosts Gourmet in the Glen which celebrate Celtic Country’s quality food, wine and country lifestyle.
Gourmet in the Glen leads up to Land of the Beardies Festival, a spring highlight spread over two weekends in November, celebrating the area’s pioneering links. Traditional features include a gala street parade, beard-growing contest, Ulysses motorcycle club participants, sheep dog trials and draught horse field days.
